Stayed overnight for our wedding anniversary. Traffic on the journey caused us to miss our dinner reservation - no issue for the staff: we were comfortably fed and watered, even though we arrived late. Stayed in Room 18, the Sail Loft. Absolutely beautiful with stunning views. All staff we met were welcoming and helpful, we never felt rushed. Recommend the hotel to all ages and stages!

We absolutely loved everything about this place. The staff are just amazing, they looked after us so well. Everything is sourced locally, which not only benefits the guests but also the local economy and is worth every penny. The food and the service is second to none.

This is a good honest pub, no frills and perfectly positioned on the quay at Clovelly. The menu is quite small, but I think this enables the chef to ensure the highest standards and super quick service. The staff are friendly and welcoming, highly recommend.

We initially booked a nights stay at the Lion. However, on receiving such an amazing welcome and the relaxed atmosphere we decided to stay an additional night. The staff could not be more accommodating or do enough for you. The room was absolutely beautiful and the food, restaurant and bar was out of this world. I think it's the most relaxed I have ever been on a stay. Cannot recommend this place and the beautiful village highly enough. Even the locals are friendly and happy to help or answer any questions. We will definitely be booking a return visit. Thank you all once again Sam

This is the second time we've stayed here. Absolute gem of a hotel. Beautifully appointed and clean. The staff are so attentive and friendly, but professional. The breakfast choice is fantastic and delicious, as are the evening meals. You simply can't beat fish caught that day by the local fishermen. The best bit is when the visitor centre shuts for the day and you have the harbour to yourself (apart from other guests and the locals). So peaceful and tranquil. I would highly recommend and will be booking to stay again next year.

Wonderful stay. All the staff were excellent, friendly and attentive. Nothing was too much trouble. A shout out to Jo who made us laugh so much, she's such a character and to Richard, the manager who went out of his way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. Lovely food in the snug bar and breakfast was to die for. The Christmas lights, were as always very nice but a shame about the weather but we have booked again and are very much looking forward to going back. Thank you for a lovely stay.

We stopped at the Red Lion in Clovelly on a long coastal walk. The location was beautiful, the food & drink amazing and the staff so friendly and helpful. One of the best pubs we've been to on our holiday. Would thoroughly recommend a visit if you're passing.

February half term is a great time to visit Clovelly and avoid the crowds, and the Red Lion is waiting for you when you reach the harbour at the bottom. Dog friendly inside, but the Snug at the back was quite gloomy and the main bar a little clinical in its furnishing. We sat outside (you'll get plastic glasses)- weather behaved. Good choice of beers. Staple pub grub - a little expensive for what it was but then I watched a bloke delivering beer down the hill on a wooden sledge so can understand why. Staff very friendly. Only disappointment was that food both inside and out served in non-recyclable plastic boxes.

Excellent hotel right in the harbour of the village of Clovelly. Food excellent albeit a little more expensive than some places but given the location well worth the extra. Hotel gives you access to the village and the Land Rover ride to and from the visitor centre.

We stayed at the Red Lion for 1 night for our mini moon mid week. When arrived we were already known by the Land rover crew as the honeymoon couple which was very sweet. When checking into the hotel we were upgraded to room 5 (apparently the best room in the hotel as it has a balcony too). The views from the room were stunning. The decor and the room fragrance smell was just amazing!!! So much detail had gone into it. The staff were genuinely really nice and helpful which went a long way. Lunch in the harbour bar (takeaway): A little over priced but super tasty! The chips were so good. Dinner in the restaurant: Tried lobster for the first time. You can see where they fish for them so the mileage to plate is nothing. Presentation and flavours of food were sxrummy. Breakfast in the restaurant: Continental to help yourself too and hot food ordered via waitress. Good quality ingredients again and very full by the end Recommendations: - would have liked a full length mirror to be more easily accessible in the wardrobe as the door didn't open a huge way. -thicker pillows -Hall way light to be automatic as it lit up the room a lot -toilet roll holder to be in a different place as it was hard to get out of the shower when damp.
